Skovorodino ( _ru. Сковородино) is a town in
Amur Oblast ,Russia , located in the upper stream of theBolshoy Never River some 669 km northwest ofBlagoveshchensk . Population: 10,100 (2005 est.); 10,566 (2002 Census); 13,824 (1989 Census).Skovorodino was founded in 1908 as a settlement of Zmeiny ( _ru. Змеи́ный) during the construction of the
Trans-Siberian Railway . It was then renamed Never-I ( _ru. Невер-I) after the nearby river. In 1911, the town was once again renamed and became Rukhlovo ( _ru. Рухлово). It was granted town status in 1927. In 1938, Rukhlovo was renamed Skovorodino in honor of A. N. Skovorodin (1890–1920), chairman of a localSoviet , who had been killed here.
