Pixel image editor (formerly known as Pixel32) is an image editor written by the Slovak programmer Pavel Kanzelsberger [James Gray. It is arguably the most notable application written with Free PascalFact|date=July 2007, though it is not free software. It is often compared to Adobe Photoshop, the most widely used bitmap editor in the printing and graphics industries.

Features

Pixel supports grayscale, RGB, CMYK, CIE Lab and HDR image models, color management, layers, adjustment layers, layer effects, filter effects, web page authoring, photo retouching and animations. Planned future functionality includes batch file processing, user scripting (to chain multiple effects), a third-party plugin API and support for files as large as 65536 x 65536 pixels. The evaluation version places watermarks on images and can be used for an unlimited amount of time.

Current version

After almost a year of anticipation the Beta7 was published on 28 August 2007.

The next version has been announced on April 9th, but it has not become available to date nor has the author confirmed / denied when or if it will be available. There has been no response from the author to the user community, thus enhancing the speculations about the state of the project. The release date of a full version is unknown.
