Hades Almighty

Hades Almighty are a black metal band hailing from Norway. They play a style of black metal similar to Bathory, and play at a pace that is similar to that of Doom metal, while still rooted in black metal. Their vocalist has an extremely harsh voice and the music is generally very heavy even though they play at a slower pace. They were formed in 1992 by guitarist Jørn Inge Tunsberg and drummer Remi, originally calling the band Hades. After releasing their 1993 demo on an MCD through Wounded Love Records (Italy), they were joined by bassist Janto Garmanslund and guitarist Nagel.

In 1993, Jørn Tunsberg was convicted along with fellow black metal musician Varg Vikernes of Burzum, of the burning of a Norwegian churchÅsane, Bergen, which led to a prison sentence. After Hades debut album "...again shall be" was released in 1994 through Full Moon Productions, Nagel was replaced by another guitarist, who went by the name of Stig.

In 1997, "Dawn of the Dying Sun" was released again through Full Moon Productions, which was mildly well-received by black metal fans. In 1998, the band was forced to change their name from Hades to Hades Almighty because an American band already using this name had reformed. After changing their name to Hades Almighty, the band began working on their next album.

In 1999 the band released "Millenium Nocturne" under Hammerheart Records/Nuclear Blast. The album was noted for not only being incredibly dark, but for also the heaviness that the band could achieve without having to play at fast tempos. They toured Europe in support of this album, playing with bands such as Immortal and Mayhem. The album Pulse of Decay was released in 2001, continuing with largely an even more aggressive, cold and black mood. 'And the atmosphere was almost not to compare of the previous album. It was again a success.The album was re-released in 2004 by Dark Essence Records, mainly due to the fact that it was difficult to come by.

Hades Almighty are currently signed to Dark Essence Records, which re-released "The Pulse Of Decay, and this time it included 3 bonus/new songs . They are currently active!
