Canada

In Canada, liquor licences are issued by each province.

Ontario

In Ontario, liquor licences are issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

United States

In the United States, liquor licences are issued by each state. Each city and localities may also have laws and regulations in acquiring such licence. For example, in the state of Oregon, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) regulates and controls the distribution, sales and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Depending on the local regulations, there may be several different classes of liquor licences. There may be several choices of licence classes depending on how one intends to sell the alcoholic beverages.
