Dragonfly (Veronica Dultry) is a fictional supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe.

Publication history

Dragonfly first appeared in X-Men #94-95 (August-October 1975), and was created by Chris Claremont and Len Wein.

The character subsequently appears in X-Men #104 (April 1977), Quasar #14 (September 1990), #16 (November 1990), #20 (March 1991), Captain America #389-391 (August-September 1991), #412-413 (February-March 1993), and Thunderbolts #24-25 (March-April 1999).

Fictional character biography

Dragonfly was originally a winged female member of the second group of Ani-Men. She and the other three Ani-Men were given their powers by scientists in the employ of the crime lord Count Nefaria. Dragonfly and the Ani-Men went up against the X-Men in her first appearance;^[1] this was her only outing alongside the Ani-Men. She was later abducted by the alien Stranger to his laboratory world, where she and other abductees were manipulated by the Overmind into battling Quasar.^[2] After she returned to Earth, she mutated further due to the Stranger's experiments, but Ant-Man aided her in returning to her normal appearance.^[3] Later, she joined Superia's Femizons and battled Captain America and Paladin.^[4] Not long after, Dragonfly and several other former Femizons battle Captain America again during an AIM weapons demonstration.^[5] Much later, Dragonfly was invited to join the Crimson Cowl's Masters of Evil, where she battled the Thunderbolts. She, and the others, were defeated and sent to prison.^[6] In new battle armor, she was sent to attack Jackie Dio alongside serval other criminals. Dio quickly defeated the villains by blowing up the building they were in.^[7]

Powers and abilities

Dragonfly has the ability of flight as well as a hypnotic gaze. Her physical appearance has also been altered, giving her wings, red skin, white pupils, and antennae.

• Dragonfly appeared in The Avengers: United They Stand episode "Command Decision." She is seen as a member of Baron Helmut Zemo's Masters of Evil.
