Charles McCarthy (football coach)

Charles McCarthy (1873 - March 26, 1921) was the head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team for the 1897 and 1898 seasons.

McCarthy was born in Brockton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Brown University in 1896 with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree and became the Georgia coach immediately after graduating. During his two seasons, McCarthy's team compiled a record of 6 wins, 3 losses, and no ties.

After his two years at Georgia, McCarthy became a legislative librarian in the state of Wisconsin and died there in 1921.
