The station is located at the northern end of the Bear Street level crossing and south of the McDonald Street level crossing, with station access from
Nepean Highway and Bear and McDonald Streets.The station consists of two side platforms: Platform 1 (Flinders Street bound) has a large weatherboard building with an enclosed waiting room, a ticket office and toilets, while platform 2 (Frankston bound) has a smaller weatherboard building. A large
Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. Stabling facilities are located at the DOWN end of the station, whilst a third track is located through the middle of station, but is not normally used except for the Long Island steel freight train. Anunderpass is also situated at the Flinders Street end of the station.History
