Seaford is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Seaford, on the Frankston railway line. Seaford is unmanned and is in Metcard Zone 2.

Facilities

The station is located at the southern end of the Station Street level crossing, with station access from Railway Parade and Station Street.

The station consists of two side platforms: Platform 1 (Flinders Street bound) has a large brick building, while platform 2 (Frankston bound) has a smaller brick building. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A substation is situated at the UP end of the station.

History

Seaford station opened on December 1 1913. [ [http://www.vicsig.net/index.php?page=infrastructure&name=Seaford VICSIG Infrastructure - Seaford] ] During the 1970s and 1980s, Seaford station used to accommodate stabled trains within its railway sidings. The sidings were discontinued during the late 1980s due to costs and graffiti. The tracks used to stable trains are still visible at the southern end of the station.
