Evans Diamond

Evans Diamond is a baseball stadium in Berkeley, California, located on the University of California sports complex in between Edwards Track Stadium and Haas Pavilion. It is the home field of the University of California Golden Bears college baseball teams. The stadium holds 2,500 people and opened in 1933. It is named after former Cal baseball coach, Clint Evans, who coached the Golden Bears from 1930-1954.The stadium was renovated in 1992 at a cost of $275,000, paid for by the donations of UC alumni. Construction was done by RNT Landscaping, a San Leandro landscaping company.The turf at Evans Diamond is natural grass, and the infield dirt is a combination of crushed cinder and the traditional clay.The walls are 320 feet in the corners, 385 feet to dead center field, and 365 feet down each power alley. Behind the warning track and wall in foul territory in deep right field, there is an covered but not enclosed structure containing batting cages and pitching machines, and the bullpen is outside of the roof closer to the warning track. In left field next to Haas Pavilion is another bullpen, but no batting cages.The Jackie Jensen press box lies directly behind home play, above the last row of stands.
