Phil Brown (footballer born 1966)

Phil Brown, born January 16 1966 in Sheffield, England is an English professional footballer who is currently one of the player-managers of Northern Premier League Premier Division side Matlock Town along with Gareth Williams. He usually plays in midfield, but can also play as a striker.

He started his career in 1982, coming through the ranks at Chesterfield where he stayed for 4 years. In 1986, he moved to Stockport County, but left soon after. In the summer of 1987 he moved to Lincoln City who had recently become the first club to be automatically relegated out of the Football League. He was the leading goalscorer as the Imps secured their return to the league at the first attempt. He spent a further two seasons with Lincoln before moving down to non-league football, where he has played ever since for teams like Kettering Town, Boston United and Gainsborough Trinity.

Brown was originally signed by Matlock in 2002 as a player, but was made joint player-manager in 2004 after previous boss Ernie Moss left to manage Hucknall Town.

Brown has two sons, John David and Daniel Nathan. He is married to Joanne Brown. His mother is called Sheila and his father is called David. He has a twin brother named Neil and a sister, 6 years junior, named Kate.
