Barry Palmer (British singer)

Barry Palmer, born 1958 in England, is a British singer who was one of Mike Oldfield's vocalists around 1984.

Biography and career

Barry Palmer's music career began in 1976, when he became a lead vocalist of the German rock band Triumvirat, with which he recorded three albums.

In 1983, Mike Oldfield heard one of the Triumvirat albums and was interested in the voice of the lead vocalist. He invited Barry to join the "Crises" tour, which Barry Palmer refused because he was busy working on his solo album.

Later, Oldfield contacted Barry Palmer again and asked him to sing on the song "Crime of Passion". After that Barry Palmer was invited to record four songs for the album "Discovery".

Barry recorded three more songs for Mike Oldfield:
*One released in 1985: "Pictures in the Dark", also featuring the voices of Anita Hegerland and Aled Jones ;
*Two never released with Palmer's contribution: "When The Night's On Fire" (performed later by Anita Hegerland on "Islands", and "Man In The Rain" which later appeared on "Tubular Bells III" sung by Cara Dillon).

After that, Barry Palmer focused on his solo career, releasing the album "Without An Aim" in 1984 and a single "God Bless The Children". He has released another single ("Dear John") in 2001.
