The Fendermen

The Fendermen were a pop/rockabilly duo in the early 1960s.

Primarily composed of Jim Sundquist (from Kingsford, Wisconsin and Phil Humphrey (from Stoughton) who met as students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the later 1950s. The group had one big hit with "Mule Skinner Blues", released in 1960 on the Cuca Records label. The song hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. A short-lived "offshoot" group, The Muleskinners [ [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:i1u06jp17190 All Music Guide (3)] ] , formed later in the 60s.

Sundquist and Humphrey shared the same birthday 26 November 1937 [ [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll The Fendermen on the All Music Guide] ] . They called themselves "the Fendermen", because they both played Fender guitars, and they both connected them to the same amplifier.
