Badvel is a constituency in Kadapa (Cuddapah) district of Andhra Pradesh State of India.

Badvel is the Head quarter of Badvel assembly segment. It is located 55 km far from the District head quarter Kadapa. Recently it has been converted into Municipality. Pincode of Badvel is 516227. Based on2004 election census, total number of voters in Badvel constituency is 1,53,429.

Hindu, Islam and Christianity are the main religions.Mainly arya vysyas are the more people in Badvel. Telugu is the main language. Hindi, Urdu and English are the other languages spoken in Badvel.

History

The city is named after famous poet Baddena, who wrote "Sumathi Sathakam". Initially the name was 'Baddenavolu'; it transformed later to 'Badvolu' and then to its current form 'Badvel'. The city has become the center to more than 127 villages. This is the only city developed vastly without any large educational institutes like eng. colleges."'

According to the history badvel was established on 19th century. Badvel town is constructed by “Mala Badhri Gadu”.

LIBRARY

Badvel library was stared in 8-11-1956. first it was in Brahmana veedhi (street).

POST OFFICE

Badvel postal services started from 1954. first office was in a rent house belongs to freedom fighter Handi Bagh Sathya Narayana . In 16-11-1994 it was shifted to the own building near Mydukur Road.

UB–REGISTER OFFICE

In 1-1-1865 Badvel sub-register office started. In 4-2-1865 first registration was registered . F.S.Cheldo worked as first sub-register.

R.T.C SERVICES

In 23-6-1986 first badvel RTC services started with 29 buses. Currently, Buses are available to all the major cities of South India like Hyderabad, Chennai, Tirupathi,Vijayawada,Bangalore.

MARKET YARD

In 1-11-1986 yard was started later in 7-8-1997 it was shifted in to own building. In 10.10 ecares badvel market yard is running.

BADVEL GRAMA PANCHAYAT

Badvel panchayt was started in 1936. First president is G.Ram Raju. He continued for 16 years. In 1958 it was announced as Major panchayat with 22 wards.

MADAKELAVARI PALLI PANCHAYT

If it is established in 1958 it became Major Panchayt in 1968 with 18 wards. In 6-12-1985 it was shifted to the own building at TTD Kalyanamandapam back side.

GUNTAPALLI PANCHAYAT

It is established in 15-8-1955. In 27-6-1979 it was announced as Major Panchyat with 14 wards.

FIRE OFFICE

In 4-3-1984 badvel fire station services where started. Later in 2-10-1987 it was shifted in to own building at Sidhavatam road.

EDUCATION IN BADVEL

In 1924 near Verabadhra Swamy temple a small school was started by Sigasani Lakshumya, under in his management. In 1966 it is shifted in to ‘Kolapathri vari sathram’. Later it became as ‘Sathram Badi’.

In 1927 Main school started in Kota veedhi from First to 8th class. After 27 years in 1945 it came to high school stage. In 1948 first SSLC exams held here. Later in 1952 it is shifted to present Z.P.Boys high school. In 1964 With the effort of Ex. M.L.A Bhomu Rama Reddy & his wife Ramasubama Girls high school started. Between 1924-64 all management schools are taken by Government. In 1972 with the effort of Ex. Minister B.Veera Reddy, Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Jr.college started. In same way B.V.R Degree college in 1979 & B.Ed college in 1984 started by him.

With the effort of Ex.MLA V.Siva Rama Krishniaha, Polytechnic college is started in 1981 near Polerama Thepal.

POLICE STATION

Before 1807 badvel Police station established. In 1994 badvel police station divided into two circles. In 1921 badvel sub-jail was started. In 1986 first love marriage done here.....

Political structure

Late Sri Bijvemula Veera Reddy, the dynamic leader from Kadapa, worked as a Cabinet minister in the governments of NTR, Chandrababu Naidu. He was Elected Six times as an MLA from Badvel. He was born in an Agriculture family in Chinna Kesam Palli village, located near 5 km far from Badvel. He was an illeterate guy. He is the founder of a college named BVR college, one of the best colleges in Kadapa. Every year hundreds of students getting their degrees from this college.D.C Govinda Reddy is the Present MLA.

Late Sri Gownipuram Subba Raju, the well known leader from badvel, worked as a Thaluk president for Thirty Five Years continuously. He was born in a respectable family in Badvel (Raju Gari Street).

The municipal elections are conducted for the first time in June 2008 in a newly formed municipality namely 'Badvel' in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh State, India. This municipality was formed by merging of three surrounding grama-panchayats namely Badvel, Gunthapalle and Madakalavaripalle in the year 2007 by the Congress Government with Sri Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy Garu as Chief Minister. The first elected Municipal Chair-person was Dr. B. Munneiah and Vice-chair-person Mr. Singasaani Guru Mohan S/o Late Sri Singasaani Parandhamaiah (Pradesh Congress Committee Member, All India Congress Committee, India)

Brahmamgari Mattam is located 35 kilometers from Badvel. Sree Potuluri VeeraBrahmam garu, known as the 'Nostradamus of India' wrote Kalagnanam (containing his prophesies)

Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary is near to jogireddy gari palli near to Badvel. This forest is famous to the critically endangered Jerdon's Courser "Rhinoptilus bitorquatus" locally known as "Kalivi kodi". This sanctuary was declared soon after the rediscovery of this bird in 1986 near Redipalli village. This bird has only been found in this wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is named after the Sri Lankamalleswaraswami temple located inside it. This temple was built by Janmejayamaharaj and is located close to a waterfall.

Samartha Sadhguru Sri Kasinayana is a modern Indian Sadhguru. He was born in Bedusupally Village, in between Badvel Mandal and Seetharamapuram Mandal, Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh to Smt. Kasimma and Sri. Subba Reddy. In childhood he was inspired by the Guru Athiracha Guruvaiah Swamy and travelled Kasi to Kanyakumari. He was renovated to many ancient temples and Samadies of spiritual "should" of Andhra Prades. He introduced Nirataannadanam to Indians regardless of caste, colour and religion.

Sairam Temple is one of the famous temples in badvel. This temple is located near Verra Reddy Degree College. Sivaalayam, another famous temple, is also there.

Siddaihgari Mattam, Siddaiah was a student of Sree Potuluri VeeraBrahmam garu. it is located near Brahmamgari Mattam.

Siddamma Talli Peranttallu is the one of the famous Durga Matha Temple; located near by Badvel around 3 km. The temple was established by Late Smt. Somesula Lakshumma followed by her son and daughter-in-law Late Sri Somesula Subba Rayudu and Smt. Somesula Nagabhushanamma.

SriVasavi Kanyakaparameshwari temple is one of the wellknowned temple:located in ammavarishala street,Badvel.during the festivals all the people from Badvel municipality will attend to fulfill the moment.Mainly in DASARA festival of nine days the whole Badvel was colorful with lighting sets,ammavari hordings.
