Cambridge Reporter

Cambridge Reporter

"The Cambridge Reporter" was a local daily newspaper in Southern Ontario serving the community of Cambridge, Ontario. Founded in 1846, then called the Galt Reporter. In 1973 the paper changed its name to the Cambridge Reporter after when the city of Galt merged with the towns of Preston and Hespeler and parts of the townships of Waterloo and North Dumfries amalgamated to form Cambridge. In the 90's the paper changed from a daily paper to a twice a week paper and then in 2003 the Cambridge Reporter was closed by parent Torstar Corporation. A final paper was published Friday, September 19, 2003. Metroland Media Group which is owned by TorStar currently operates TheWaterloo Region Record and the Cambridge Times which has expanded since the closure of the Cambridge Reporter.

A summary of the history and demise of the paper can be found here: http://www.rrj.ca/online/463/
