Palmer's College is a sixth form college located on the outskirts of Grays, Thurrock in the county of Essex. Although the postal address is Grays, the building is actually in the parish of Little Thurrock.

The college offers a wide range of courses and opportunities for school leavers to achieve A level, BTEC and GCSE qualifications.

Palmer's was first opened in 1706 when the merchant William Palmer founded the all boys school. Artefacts can be seen in the library of the building's past. The college as it is known today was created in 1971 by the amalgamation of the two grammar schools; Palmer’s school for boys and Palmer’s school for girls.

The College Today

Palmer’s College comprises teaching buildings (including a lecture theatre) and an associated sports complex (including gym and swimming pool) used by both students and the public alike. As well as performances and concerts being held in the lecture theatre, the college also hosts a variety of events for children from local schools on its playing field.

Past members of the college may join the Old Palmerians' Association which holds a variety of events and allows past pupils to keep in touch with the sixth form.

In 2006 Palmer's celebrated its 300th anniversary of the establishment of a Palmer's education in Grays.

The Student Executive

The Student Executive are the "voice of the students" within the college; they are responsible for organising many college events. The Student Executive of 2007-2008 raised £4,000 for Little Havens Children’s Hospice during various social events and fundraising days over the course of the year.

The Student Newspaper

A relatively new concept to the college is the college newspaper. The Palmer's Times is expected to be released sometime at the beginning of the new college year. The idea has been popular with students for some time and is considered to become an actual enrichment course students can partake in.

The Mission Statement

Palmer's College aspires to excellence in the quality of its teaching and support for all students. The college aims to ensure that, in the pursuit of learning, students are engaged and successful in the achievement of their goals.

Old Palmerians' Association

The Association holds a number of dinners each year. These events are ideal for meeting old friends in a social relaxed atmosphere and catching up on all the news. In 2007, the Association published "300 Years of Palmer's - a miscellany of record and reminiscence".
