Pizza 73

Pizza 73

.

Founded in 1985 by David Tougas and its current president Guy Goodwin, Pizza 73 is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and operates regionally in Western Canada, mainly Alberta, with 51 locations in 15 cities. The name derives from the chain's phone numbers, which end in "7373" (e.g. (780) 473-7373 in Edmonton).

Pizza 73 was the first delivery chain in Western Canada to use a centralized call center to take orders from customers (1985), and to allow customers to order using the internet (1995). In 2006 and 2007 Pizza 73 was named one of “Alberta’s 50 fastest growing companies” by Alberta Venture magazine. The company has also been recognized as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies.

On June 14, 2007, Ontario-based Pizza Pizza announced an agreement to acquire Pizza 73. For the near future, Pizza Pizza plans to retain the "Pizza 73" brand for its locations in the west.

Pizza 73 is not a franchised chain, but rather each location is a 50/50 joint venture between an independent operating partner and Flying Pizza 73.
