Lucy AbbottNoah Christian Newman is a fictional character on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He is the eldest biological child of supercouple Nicholas Newman and Sharon Collins (Joshua Morrow and Sharon Case), born onscreen on March 3, 1997.[1] The role was played by a series of infant and toddler actors during the character's early years. In 2008, the role of Noah was SORASed from 12-13 to 15. By September 2010, the character appears as an adult (somewhere from 20-23).

Casting
The role was first played as an infant by twins Samantha & Zachary Elkins in March 1997 before being replaced with Lauren Summer Harvey the same year. The character was then portrayed by Hunter Preisendorfer from the fall 1997 to 1998 and again from 1999 to November 22, 2000.
Other actors who've played the role include C.J. Hunter from 1998 to 1999, Nicholas Graziano in 1999, and Blake Michael Bryan from December 20, 2000 to June 6, 2001. McKay Giller took over the role on July 4, 2001, playing Noah through December 7, 2004. Blake Woodruff played the role briefly from December 24, 2004, to April 27, 2005, followed by Chase Ellison from May 11, 2005, to September 20, 2005, when the role was recast with final child actor Hunter Allan from September 28, 2005, to June 9, 2008.
Actor Kevin Schmidt took over the teenage role on August 13, 2008 and played the role through February 8, 2010. On July 20, 2010, it was revealed that Schmidt would not return to the role, prompting rumors that Noah would be SORASed yet again to match with the aging of Noah's aunt Abby Newman, now portrayed by Marcy Rylan[2]. For a short time in July 2010, it was rumored that actor Drew Garrett would be Schmidt's replacement. These rumors were revealed to be false when Luke Kleintank of Gossip Girl fame was hired to take over the role; he made his first appearance on September 21, 2010[3]. Kleintank only appeared in a number of episodes, making his last appearance after a few months on January 25, 2011. He later appeared on April 7, 2011 and April 8, 2011. In March it was rumored that Schmidt is reprising the role. An official announcement was made on March 15, 2011. Kevin Schmidt returned to the role of Noah on-screen on April 14, 2011[4].
Character's storylines
Introduction to The Young and the Restless
Becoming insecure of her marriage, Sharon Collins (Sharon Case) decides to stop taking her birth control pills. She turns out pregnant and tells her husband Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) that it was an accident. Nick convinced her they were not ready to be parents, and she agreed until she backed out of the abortion at the last minute. Sharon gives birth to a premature Noah in 1997. Fearing that her baby is going to die, her best friend Grace Turner and her boyfriend Tony Viscardi track down Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) the daughter Sharon gave up for adoption when she was a teenager. However, Noah lives. From then on Nick, Sharon, Cassie and Noah were a family fighting through many tragedies.
Late 2005 - 2007
Cassie dies in a car accident with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) in 2005. After Cassie's death, Noah began acting out, having several tantrums and rebelling against his parents. Nick began in hot pursuit of Daniel, who he believed was behind the wheel the night of the accident, but it was later proven that Cassie was driving. Nick and Sharon began drifting further apart, and Nick had an affair with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), and she later becomes pregnant. This causes Nick and Sharon to divorce. His behavior improves as his sister, Summer Newman is born, and Sharon marries Jack Abbott. However, Nick and Sharon are in a plane crash, and Nick is presumed dead for two months, and Phyllis is meanwhile about to be carted off to prison for extortion, increasing Noah's anguish. He even locked his dog, Fisher, in a closet for being bad and this is when Sharon decided he needed to begin seeing a therapist.
2008 - 2009
He was aged to 15 years old on August 13, 2008. Due to having been rapidly aged, Noah (now portrayed by Kevin Schmidt) perpetrates a number of things that get him into trouble and/or grounded, such as going to parties with alcohol, getting into a fight with a trio of bullies in France and lying to his parents constantly. During that time, he begins dating Eden Gerick (Erin Sanders), the troubled half-sister of Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), who had recently moved to Genoa City.
He and Eden lie to his step-mom, Phyllis Summers Newman (Michelle Stafford), and Michael about their involvement in order to pursue a relationship in secret. In a devastating twist of fate, they go ice skating on a frozen lake right before a blizzard; and while skating, Noah falls through the ice. As Eden goes for help, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) manages to pull him out, falling in and drowning in the freezing lake in the process.
Noah and Eden recently made love and both lost their virginity. Although they got caught on the couch naked by Noah's dad and step-mom, they are now formally dating and are getting closer the more time they spend together. It looks like Noah might take after his dad in finding love so young. Noah also constantly deals with other kids at his school making fun of him because of his mother Sharon, who was suffering from kleptomania.
Noah at one point wanted to be emancipated from his parents, thinking that their reunion was unreal and upset at the switch between the quartet.
Sharon and Nick think he is their only surviving child, which is not true since Faith was stolen from Sharon the moment she was born.He moved into Brad Carlton's house along with his mom. This move was short as when Noah and Eden decide to once again make love, they were both unaware that Daisy Callahan started a fire after Eden goes digging in for the truth about her. Sharon and Noah eventually ended up moving into the ranch where Ashley Abbott offered them to stay along with Adam.
Weeks after, Noah and Eden leave town for Paris to visit Eden's long-lost relatives after reading a forged letter Daisy wrote to keep framing Eden for her crimes.
2010 - present
On September 21, Noah (now age 20-22; now portrayed by Luke Kleintank) returns to Genoa City and shows up at Sharon's doorstep, much to the shock of both of his parents. It turns out that he had broken up with Eden while in Paris, hence the return trip. After realizing that his mother and father are both single, Noah lays down many comments explaining he "knows" its a matter of time before they reunite as a family.
Soon after, he goes on a date with Jana Hawkes (who has just divorced her husband) to the Harvest Festival, which ends with Jana leaving abruptly.
Noah has a new passion for music, which was revealed at Daniel's art show when he played the guitar along with a song. On Halloween, Noah attempted to have sex with Jana but she pulled back and told him to leave, as she still has feelings for her ex-husband Kevin Fisher.
Recently, Noah (portrayed again by Kevin G. Schmidt) returned to Genoa City for his mother's "funeral" and moved into Sharon's house at Victor's insistence and with Adam's blessing.
