"Artificial Heart" is a song by Soul Asylum, originally released from their EP, "Clam Dip & Other Delights", in 1988. It was written by Dave Pirner.

Lyrics

The song is about a girl who has an artificial heart. She, however, is kidnapped by a pyscopath who then kills her, cuts her into pieces, and puts her body parts in a trash can. A girl later finds her parts, but, even though the girl was dead, the atificial heart was still beating. The girl then sews her body parts back on, but she doesn't remember the day she died. The next day the girl with the artificial heart reads her obituary in the newspaper, and, according to the narrator, she laughs so hard that her head falls off.

Music Video

The song later got a video, describing the song's lyrics. The video was released during the promotion of "Hang Time" and had some MTV airplay.
