Alan G. Merten (born 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin)Fact|date=February 2007 is currently the President of George Mason University.

Alan Merten received an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a masters in Computer science from Stanford University, and a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He began his academic career as an engineering professor at the University of Michigan, later became the dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Florida, and served as the dean of the S.C.
