Capture of Maastricht

Capture of Maastricht

The Capture of Maastricht describes the siege of the city by the Dutch commanded by Frederick Henry and the revolts in and around Maastricht itself during the Eighty Years' War. While on campaign and advancing along the Meuse river in 1632. Frederik takes Venlo, Roermond and, after a short siege, Maastricht within a period of just over 40 days. Venlo and Roermond would eventually be retaken by the Spanish but Maastricht would remain a part of the Dutch Republic until 1794.
