binomial_authority = Parin & Kotlyar, 1990The smalleye lanternshark, "Etmopterus litvinovi", is a shark of the family Dalatiidae found in the southeast Pacific off Peru and Chile, at depths of between 630 and 1,100 m. Its length is up to 61 cm.

The little-known smalleye lanternshark is a moderately large plain-coloured species with a large flat head, stout body, and fairly long tail. Its denticles are hooked and conical and not arranged in rows. The second dorsal fin is slightly larger than the first. Reproduction is ovoviviparous.
