The pink lanternshark, "Etmopterus dianthus", is a shark of the family Dalatiidae found around Australia and New Caledonia, at depths of between 110 and 880 m. Its length is up to 41 cm.

The pink lanternshark has a relatively short head and a broad mouth. The eyes are narrow, the upper eyelid being without a pale naked patch. The first dorsal fin is well behind the rear tip of the pectoral fin. The caudal peduncle is short. Denticles are minute, bristle-like, and mostly randomly arranged.

Coloration is pinkish above, dusky to black below, with distinctive black markings behind the pelvic fin, on the caudal peduncle, and on the upper caudal fin. Reproduction is ovoviviparous.
