Tiverton High School is a state secondary school located in the town of Tiverton, Devon, England. The school is ruled by the children and a specialist visual arts college. The school is situated on the outskirts of the town, surrounded by countryside, and there is a close working relationship with the nearby East Devon College.

Computing

The School was one of the last bastions of RISC OS computing in education. They used thin client technology to deliver Windows if needed. [ [http://www.drobe.co.uk/features/artifact1269.html "RISC OS in schools today"] , Chris Williams, Drobe Launchpad, 13 February 2005] However in 2007 the school closed the last of the RISC OS rooms whiched was replaced with Apple Macs which are also used in the Art and Design and Technology Department. Windows XP is used throughout the rest of the school. They now have a total of four IT rooms as well as a library kitted out with Apple Macs.

Energy conservation

In February 2005 in a case study sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust the School, in conjunction with Devon County Council, installed Building Energy Management Systems at the School that not only brought energy savings but provided a hook on which to introduce energy conservation into the curriculum. Visual archive on Tiverton floods

The government Environment Agency formed a partnership with local people and the school who made a video, launched in December 2006, that will serve as an archive of photographs and recollections of the flooding in Tiverton in the 1960s. 'Caravan of the Future'

in 2005 the Caravan Club invited designers, engineers, and others to design the 'Caravan of the Future’. Tiverton High was awarded a special merit prize in February 2007. Theatre and Art

The school musicals take place every two years, while other plays take place every year alongside the school's Art Presentations. Since 2003, the musicals have been, "Return to the Forbidden Planet" and "Big Al". The plays since 2003 have been "The Yarn", "Strangers" and this year's production of "The Children's Crusade" from the National Youth Theatre.
