Broadcast history

Baltimore comedian Mickey Cucchiella had been a regular guest on 98Rock's morning show when he signed on to co-host the station's evening show in early 2002. He debuted with co-host Jennifer Wagner in March 2002.[1] Wagner left in late 2002 and Mickey continued to host the show with Producer Don Koenig. In February 2003, Amelia Ryerse became the show's new co-host.[2]

Mickey and Amelia took over the afternoon drive time show in early 2004, a move aimed to put 98Rock in direct competition with Don and Mike (carried on Live 105.7). At that time, Producer Don was dropped. [3]

The show moved to its current position at the morning show on October 30, 2006, following the departure of Kirk McEwen and Mark Ondayko.[4]

Program content

Running jokes include Mickey's height, being referred to as a "midget' on a regular basis, and Amelia's weight. Mickey refers to her being fat or her "fat ass", which is only considered appropriate because she has lost a significant amount of weight in the past few years. She's also a "biker chick", which is a source of many jokes by Mickey.

Mickey, Amelia and Spiegel eat food given to them on the air while talking and doing the show, despite frequent complaints from listeners about eating on the air.

The size of Scott's nose is a frequent running gag on the show, and he is sometimes referred to as Snosquach or Swordfish.

Amelia's last name is almost never given on the show, but on television interviews, she is credited as "Amelia Ryerse." Nevertheless, she prefers to keep her private life separate from her very public life on the radio. Her current boyfriend/partner is never named, and is only referred to as "Hercules", and this caricature of her boyfriend became a running joke on the show. However, there have been times where they called him by his seemingly real name (Brian).

Chuck Bronco is another running gag started on the show stereotyping the typical radio DJ. Mostly voiced by Scott, the producer, Chuck Bronco refers to himself in the third person. He often declares that "Chuck Bronco thinks ______ is stupid."

Ever since he joined the show, there have been many running gags involving newsman Josh Spiegel. These jokes include his weight and eating habits, strange behavior, relationship with his dog, Pumpernickel, his fear of women, sex, and nudity, the bizarre noises he makes, and the fact that he is Jewish.

Assistant Producer Mike Anderson was originally an intern working for the show, but when his internship ended he was made as the new assistant producer to replace Christoff Licholat, who had moved on to be full time producer for the night show. Mike was often forced (or volunteered) to do various stunts and acts for the show, such as growing a long beard for a long amount of time as a bet and later getting purple extensions put in. Later, half of it was shaved off as a punishment and his new bet was walk around with one half of his face covered in the beard. He eventually won the bet and was able to shave it off after walking 44 miles to the studio live on air. He has also created several mash ups using Jay-Z songs and sound bytes from the hosts. These can be found on the 98online.com Mickey, Amelia and Spiegel page. Mike Anderson would later leave the Mickey, Amelia and Spiegel Show to take a Producer position at WIYY's sister AM radio station, WBAL. The new assistant producer is Greg the Douche.
