Historic church of Cúcuta

The Historic church of Cúcuta is in the locality of Villa del Rosario (Cúcuta) where Simón Bolívar, Francisco de Paula Santander and other important persons of the independence of Colombia and Venezuela reunited to sign the Constitution of Cúcuta in August 30 of 1821, which main target was the creation of one republic unifying New Granada (Colombia and Panama) and Venezuela. Later, Ecuador was integrated to the unification.

Inside of it there is a statue of Simón Bolivar. At the moment is part of the Park of the Great Colombia. Due to the Earthquake of Cúcuta that happened the May 18 of 1875, the church is in ruins.
