Dubai Modern High School (originally The Modern High School, Dubai) is an Indian school in Dubai, founded in 1986. An integral part of the GEMS group of schools, it offers the ICSE & IB syllabus and a day-boarding system which encompasses all aspects of a student's life.

History

The school was originally located in the Karama area of Dubai. It had a humble beginning in temporary classrooms with only around 200 students. In 1988, it shifted to a second campus located near Mazaya Mall in Dubai between First and Second Interchanges on Sheikh Zayed Road. The school celebrated its 20th anniversary on the 20th of September 2006, with the first gathering of alumni and the formation of the Alumni Association. Its current campus is based at Nad Al Sheba near The Repton School. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, currently the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, was the patron of the school from 2007-2009. On the 31st of May, 2011, Dubai Modern High School obtained an approval from the International Baccalaureate and is now an IB syllabus school as well. The school has widely been regarded as one of the best in the United Arab Emirates

Houses

The four houses are: Aquila - Yellow - symbolized by the Eagle; Cygnus - Red - symbolized by the Swan; Orion - Green - symbolized by the Hunter and Pegasus - Blue - symbolized by the mythological creature Pegasus;

Extra curricular activities

The school has a lot of extra-curricular activities including debating, technical crew (IT), Model United Nations, Elocution, Football, Cricket, Athletics, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis and Swimming. It annually hosts an inter school debating competition- Modern World Debates where teams from 4 countries attended in its last edition.
