"X" is the eighth studio album by British rock band Def Leppard, released in 2002. Much like 1996's "Slang", it featured another departure from their signature sound by moving into the pop genre. Most of the album was produced by Pete Woodroffe and the band, with remaining tracks produced by either Marti Frederiksen or Per Aldeheim and Andreas Carlsson.

The album features the Roman numeral 'X' recognising it as their tenth album release.

Overview

The turn of the century saw a gradual revival of popularity of the band; in July 2001, VH1 aired a biopic, Hysteria - The Def Leppard Story, to record ratings.Fact|date=December 2007 While 1999's "Euphoria" had been a moderate success,POV-statement|date=December 2007 diehard fans commented that the album sounded overproduced and forced in an effort to sound like the Def Leppard of the 1980s.Fact|date=December 2007 "X" was given a negative reaction by many die-hard fans of the band, due to the poppy nature of the sound,Fact|date=December 2007 especially after the more rock-intensive "Euphoria" album that had come earlier. The band has not performed anything from this album live since the tour directly supporting it ended.
