The Canadian Centre for Energy Information (Centre for Energy) is a non-profit organization created in 2002 to meet an urgent need for information on all aspects of the Canadian energy system from oil, natural gas, coal, thermal, and hydroelectric power through to nuclear, solar, wind, and other sources of energy. More recently, the Centre for Energy has taken steps to broaden its reach to encompass energy end use in Canada.

Background

Developed by the energy industry for North American audiences, the Centre for Energy provides easy access to complete, comprehensive, and credible information on the Canadian energy system. The Centre for Energy believes an informed and educated public better understands and supports energy policy and regulatory choices, makes better business decisions related to energy, chooses careers in energy, invests in energy, and uses energy more wisely.

The Centre for Energy provides easy access to complete, comprehensive and credible information on Canadian energy through its print publications and web portal. Currently the Centre for Energy web portal [http://www.centreforenergy.com] provides visitors with encyclopedia-level information about Canada’s energy sources as well as 55 live market and news feeds. News feeds are refreshed simultaneously while market feeds are refreshed every 20 minutes. The portal also offers a multitude of links to credible sources of information.

The Centre for Energy web portal is a well-used information resource that continues to attract increasingly large numbers of visitors seeking convenient access to balanced, factual information about Canada’s energy sector.
