Churchtown (Irish: Baile and Teampaill)[1] is a village and townland near Buttevant in County Cork, Province of Munster, Ireland.

Churchtown underwent a huge expansion during the Celtic Tiger years with the population increasing from about 100 to almost 700 people

The Irish name was historically anglicised as Ballytample, Ballyntample, Ballintample and Ballintemple.[1] but the original medieval name was Bruhenny or Brugh Thuinne. See www.churchtown.net and also www.markethousegroup.net.

It is the native place of renowned horse racing trainer, Vincent O'Brien who set-up his training establishment here in the 1940s before moving to Ballydoyle, near Cashel, County Tipperary. Film star Oliver Reed lived the last few years of his life in Churchtown and is now buried in the village cemetery. The Annals of Churchtown was published in December 2005 by the Churchtown Village Renewal Trust and it is the definitive resource on the village and parish.
