Ashok Nagar is a residential locality situated at southern part of Chennai, India. It was established in 1964. At the heart of this colony, stands the Ashoka Pillar. This four lion head stump, resembles the one erected by king Ashoka during the 3rd Century BC at Sanchi.

Location

Ashok Nagar located West of Mambalam (T.Nagar), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is around the mid-point of the city and to the west. Hence most parts of Central and South Chennai are easily accessible from here. You can reach Mount Road through the Kodambakkam High Road (Gemini intersection), Aranganathan subway (North Usman Road intersection) or Kathipara junction. Also through West Mambalam one could pass through Duraisami Subway and reach Mount road. The Madley Road subway is another option but has narrow roads.
