Zehri

Zehri (Urdu: زﮨرئی ) is a Brahui tribe in Balochistan, Pakistan.

Distribution

The tribe is spread throughout Sindh and Balochistan and speak Brahui, Balochi, and Sindhi as native languages. The Zehri tribe is a Brahui speaking Baloch tribe mainly living in the Jhalawan region of the province of Balochistan of Pakistan. The Zehri tribe has a very long history, the chief of the Zehri tribe is considered the chief of all the tribes living in the Jahalwan region. The Sardar of Zehri tribe is Sardar Sanaullah Zehri son of Nawab Doda Khan Zehri. The Zehris had played a vital role in the history of the Baloch state of Kalat. Sub-tribes include the Sunari and Jamalzai.

One notable leader was Nawab Nowroz Khan, who led an unsuccessful revolt against the Pakistani government in 1959-1960.
