Barton Court Grammar School

Barton Court Grammar School is a co-ed selective school in Canterbury, with approximately 900 students between the ages of 11-19. Recently the school introduced the International Baccalaureate, the first students of which began in September 2007.

The school is situated near the centre of the historic Cathedral City of Canterbury in a World Heritage site. The main house of the school was built in 1750 as a manor house by the name of 'Barton Manor'; the other buildings have been added in more recent years. Its most distinguishing feature is its lake, which lies in the centre of the school.

It currently holds a Foreign Language College status, and the school has transferred to the International Baccalaureate award scheme for those pupils in Years 12 and 13. Study of this course has begun from September 2007, and so far has had a very positive reception, with students enrolling locally and from abroad.

The school is situated on a World Heritage Site, making for an interesting and dynamic learning environment for the studentsFact|date=February 2007.
