Gonzalo Antonio Fierro Caniullán (born March 21, 1983) is a Chilean footballer, who currently plays as a right winger for the brazilian club Flamengo.

Career

Colo-Colo

He spent the rest of his years at Chilean club Colo-Colo where he received the name, "El Joven Pistolero" (the young sniper). In 2005 he scored eleven goals and gave numerous assists while playing with other prominent players such as Humberto Suazo, the world's top international scorer in 2007 and the Mexican League's top scorer in 2008, Matias Fernandez, who preceded Carlos Tevez as the Americas's best player in 2007 and Alexis Sánchez who went on to become an idol in world-reknown club River Plate and is now at Italy's premier club, Udinese. However he still seemed to find the back of the net scoring ten goals so far in 2008. In his initial years, Fierro scored a dozen goals in the Chilean League as well as two 30 meter rockets in the Copa Sudamericana 2006. He scored three more goals at the Copa Libertadores 2007 and was a regular starter at the Copa Libertadores 2008 where he scored against Maracaibo, arguably Venezuela's best club and was a key man in the historical 2-0 win against Diego Maradona's club, Boca Juniors where he took a penalty.

Flamengo

National team

Fierro played for the Chilean National Team at the Copa América 2007 against Ecuador, Brazil and Mexico. He also played for the National Team in a tour of Europe with world-renowkn coach, Marcelo Bielsa, who won the gold medal at Athens 2004, won the most points for Argentina in any qualification process for 2002 and additionally brought his experience of managing champion teams in Mexico and his homeland of Argentina. Bielsa had so much faith in Fierro's abilities that he immediately took him into his new process, nominated him to play the two hosts of Euro 2008, Austria and Switzerland, where Chile won 2-0 and lost 2-1 in a game where Chile was inexplicably denied a legitimate goal. In a tour of Asia in 2007 where Chile played the two hosts of the 2002 World Cup, Fierro played and scored against South Korea in a 1-0 win and played the 90 minutes in the tie against Japan 0-0. In the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers, Fierro started in the 0-2 loss to Argentina, the 2-0 win against Peru, the historical 2-2 tie against Uruguay in Montevideo, and the 0-3 loss against Paraguay. Due to his demanding season he stayed out in the 2-0 win against Bolivia in La Paz, and the 3-2 win against Venezuela in Caracas. Fierro then played against Euro 2008's most entertaining squad, Turkey, in a tight 1-0 loss in Istambul and has been nominated to play Brazil as well as Colombia on September 7th and September 10th of this year.
