Breil/Brigels is a municipality in the district of Surselva in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.

The name of the municipality comes from the word "brigilo", meaning "little town". It was first mentioned historically in 765 by the name of Bregelo.

It is known as a ski resort.

Population and language

At the end of 2004, of the 1,323 inhabitants, 1,266 (=95.69%) were Swiss citizens. The official language is Romansh, which is spoken by of the population (as of 2000), of which 80.5% use it as their daily language. A large majority are still Catholic. The Reformation did not catch on in the municipality because of the influence of the nearby Disentis Abbey.
