Road Crime Unit

Road Crime Unit

Road Crime Unit is a term used to describe pro-active units derived from traffic policing departments in the United Kingdom. Road Crime Unit Officers is a branch of the Criminal Intelligence Department (CID) that only investigates crimes related to motor vehicles and road transport.

Whilst the term is far from generic, certain forces have established such units whose mandate is to pro-actively target certain crime offences (robbery, burglary etc) where there is likely to be a link to the use of a motor vehicle in the commission of the crime.
