Acton Main Line railway station is a National Rail station in Acton in west London.

It is the first National Rail station on the Great Western Main Line out of the terminus at London Paddington. The station is served by local trains operated by First Great Western between Paddington and Greenford. It is in Travelcard Zone 3.

Train services from the station were reduced in 2004 when First Great Western won the franchise from Thames Trains, with no services into London after 22:10, or westward after 22:52. Trains run about every half hour in the daytime, with no service on Sundays. It is the only station between Paddington and Heathrow Airport that is not served by the Heathrow Connect service.

The station will be served far more regularly when Crossrail line 1 is built; with around eight trains an hour continuing past Paddington on the western branch.

A renovation of the station is planned for May 2008.Fact|date=March 2007

History

Opened by the Great Western Railway, the station passed on to the Western Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948.

When Sectorisation was introduced, the station was served by Network SouthEast until the Privatisation of British Railways. Trains of the Intercity Sector passed through on the Great Western Main Line.
