"Business Jet Traveler" is written for executives and high-net-worth individuals who regularly fly aboard private jets. Unlike "lifestyle" publications in the category of the "Robb Report", "Business Jet Traveler" is a business publication containing articles on taxes, law and finance, new jet previews and CEO interviews, with limited lifestyle content. In the words of its publishers, it is intended to help maximize its readers' investment in private air transport.

"Business Jet Traveler" is published by The Convention News Co., which also publishes "Aviation International News", a monthly business aviation industry trade magazine, and onsite publications at many of the world's largest air shows and conventions, including the biannual Paris Air Show, Asian Aerospace, and Farnborough International Airshow.

New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey was on assignment for "Business Jet Traveler" on September 29, 2006, when the Embraer Legacy 600 business jet on which he was traveling collided with Gol Transportes Aéreos Flight 1907, using a Boeing 737-800, over the Amazon jungle. All 154 people aboard the airliner died. The business jet, on a delivery flight to the United States, landed safely at a Brazilian air force base with damage to the tail and left winglet.
