Theoni V. Aldredge (b.
August 22 ,1932 ) is a Greekcostume designer for stage, andscreen productions.Born Theoni Vachlioti in
Athens, Greece , Aldredge received her training at the American School in Athens and at theGoodman Theatre inChicago . Her first Broadway assignment was designing costumes forGeraldine Page inTennessee Williams ' "Sweet Bird of Youth " in 1959; her most recent was the 2006 revival of "A Chorus Line ".Aldredge won the Oscar and a British Academy Award for her work on "The Great Gatsby" in 1974. Her designs for the film were adapted for a clothing line sold exclusively by
Bloomingdale's in Manhattan. In 2002, she won the Theatre Development Fund'sIrene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award.She is the wife of actor
