- Call Aircraft Company
The Call Aircraft Company (CAC or CallAir) was established by
Reuel Call in 1939 atAfton, Wyoming to build atouring aircraft of his own design.Production of the aircraft was halted by
World War II , with the factory operating as an aircraft repair facility for the duration of the conflict. In 1945 building activities resumed, but the company found itself struggling against fierce competition fromCessna , Piper, and the masses of war-surplus aircraft flooding the market. In 1954, CallAir introduced the A-4, the world's first purpose-built
agricultural aircraft . While a moderately successful product, CallAir did not survive its founder's sale of the company in 1959, and the company foundered by the end of the year.In 1962 the company's assets were purchased by the
Intermountain Manufacturing Company (IMCO).The CallAir Foundation maintains a museum of the company in its hometown.
