FK Karabakh Agdam (Azeri: "Qarabağ Ağdam") is an Azerbaijani football club playing in AFFA Supreme League established in 1950.

History

FK Karabakh were twice champions of the independent Azerbaijan football championship in 1993 and 1996. Apart from two championship titles, 'Qarabagh' squad won 2 league cups and represented Azeri football in European competitions. Club have been playing its home matches in Surakhani stadium Baku since 1993, because Agdam was occupied by Armenian troops during Nagorno-Karabakh war.

Domestic League

As twice league champions FK Karabakh has always been fighting for high spots in domestic league. Club have shown their ambitions once again by reinforcing their squad with Azeri national players Emin Imamaliyev, Zaur Ramazanov, and former macedonian international Artim Šakiri at the beginning of season 2008/09. Former Azeri football star Gurban Gurbanov was appointed as a head coach after the unexpected departure of Rasim Kara to Khazar Lenkoran one week before the start of the season 2008/09.

European competitions

FK Karabakh is the first Azerbaijani team achieving away victory in European competitions by beating Israel side Maccabi Haifa F.C. 2:1 in UEFA Intertoto Cup at the season 99/00 thanks to double strike from former club legend Mushvig Huseynov. FK Karabakh has also represented Azerbaijan in UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA cup competitions for many times.
