Importance

Once fully completed, the A5 will provide a direct route from northern Slavonia and southern Hungary to A3 highway, which forms a part of the heavily used Corridor X. This highway is also significant as a part of Corridor Vc. When Bosnia and Herzegovina completes its part of the corridor, Slavonia will be connected to southern Dalmatia by a highway-level direct link instead of using the current routing via Zagreb. Also, a major Croatian city Osijek will gain international importance and a fast connection to Zagreb. One of the most important parts of the highway is the A3-A5 interchange Sredanci between Corridors Vc and X.

Nickname

This highway is nickamed "Slavonika", since it spans Slavonia from North to South. [cite web
