The species and its cultivars are highly resistant, but not immune, to Dutch elm disease, and unaffected by the Elm Leaf Beetle "Xanthogaleruca luteola" [http://www.sunshinenursery.com/survey.htm] .

Cultivation

In trials at Holt, Missouri, by the Arborvillage nursery, it was found to be cold-hardy to - 29 deg. Celsius. The tree also featured in the elm trials [http://www.for.nau.edu/cms/content/view/514/708/] conducted by Northern Arizona University at Holbrook. 'Glory' is not known to have been introduced to Europe or Australasia.
