Ian Patrick Martyn Cundy (born
23 April 1945 ) is a BritishAnglican priest and the currentBishop of Peterborough .Born in
Sturminster Newton , the son of Henry Martyn and Kathleen Ethel Cundy, Ian Cundy was educated atMonkton Combe School in Somerset, atTrinity College, Cambridge where he graduated with aBachelor of Arts inmathematics andtheology in 1967, and obtained a Master of Arts. He made hisGeneral Ordination Exam inTyndale Hall ,Bristol in 1969.From 1969 to 1973, Cundy was assistant curate of Christ Church,
New Malden , from 1973 to 1977 he was lecturer and chaplain ofOak Hill College , Southgate and from 1978 to 1983 he was team rector inMortlake andEast Sheen . In 1983, he became warden ofCranmer Hall , St John's College,Durham , a post he held until 1992. He was SuffraganBishop of Lewes in theDiocese of Chichester from 1992 [LondonGazette|issue=52973|startpage=10709|date=25 June 1992 |accessdate0] and was enthroned as 37th Lord Bishop of Peterborough in 1996.
