Eddie Brown (arena football)

"Touchdown" Eddie Brown (born October 2 1969) is a former Arena football offensive specialist (wide receiver). He is currently the head coach of the Continental Indoor Football League's Fort Wayne Freedom as well as serving as the Varsity wide receivers coach at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

College

Although originally from Miami, Brown started his collegiate career at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas. His performances allowed him to transfer to Louisiana Tech University for his final two years of college. During his time at Louisiana Tech, Eddie became the only player in school history to score a touchdown in every way possible; pass reception, rushing, kickoff return, punt return, interception, and fumble recovery.

AFL

Brown played for the Albany Firebirds from 1994 to 2001, and moved with the franchise to Indianapolis, Indiana where he played for three more years with the Indiana Firebirds from 2001 to 2003. In January 2006, as the AFL celebrated its 20th anniversary, Brown was voted the best player in league history. [http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2297305]

Ben Davis High School

Brown joined the coaching staff of the 5A Ben Davis High School Giants in Indianapolis, Indiana in 2006 as the Varsity wide receivers coach. After the 2006 season, head coach Tom Allen left to become an assistant coach at Division III Wabash College, former assistant Mike Kirschner took over the head coaching position and Brown remained on staff. Brown works concurrently with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office in Indianapolis as a counselor to help troubled youths.

Awards and Honors

On January 18, 2006, Eddie Brown was selected by AFL as the best player in AFL history [http://www.boston.com/sports/football/articles/2006/01/18/eddie_brown_voted_best_ever_arena_player/] . They selected the Top 20 players to ever play in the AFL, while Eddie Brown was selected as #1, other players that were selected were Barry Wagner, George LaFrance, Jay Gruden, Hunkie Cooper, James Baron, Sylvester Bembery, Sherdrick Bonner, Stevie Thomas, Dwayne Dixon, Aaron Garcia, Kurt Warner, Sam Hernandez, Cory Fleming, Greg Hopkins, Alvin Rettig, Randy Gatewood, Gary Mullen, John Corker and Bob McMillen.Eddie Brown worked for Marion County Community Corrections.
