Jung-gu is one of the 25 "gu" which make up the city of Seoul, South Korea. It is located on the north side of the Han River, and is the historical center of the city (hence the name, literally "central district").

Overview

Located in the heart of Seoul, Jung-gu is an area with a variety of old and new. It is a center of modernity, where facilities such as department stores and shopping malls are clustered together [pamphlet made by department of culture&tour in Jung gu districts] , and also a center of tradition, where valuable historic sites such as Deoksugung and Namdaemun can be found.

Jung-gu vibrates with energy and diversity, and is crowded with people of all ages, regardless of nationality, all through the year.

In addition, together with such valuable cultural sites as Myeongdong Cathedral, there are some of the most significant landmarks of Seoul, such as N Seoul Tower on Namsan mountain. Cheonggyecheon Stream is also a good place for a night tour, lined with beautiful stone bridges and many sights.
