Japonica

Japonica (or japonicum) means "of Japan", or "Japanese", in Latin and is applied to things connected with Japan:
* The specific epithets "japonica" and "japonicum" are used in binomial nomenclature to indicate species (or subspecies) of plants, animals etc thought to originate in, or associated with, Japan:
** See: "Cleyera japonica grandiflora, Pseudotsuga japonica, Coturnix japonica, Bombycilla japonica, Mauremys japonica, Rana japonica, Hyla japonica, lauda japonica, Matrona basilaris japonica, Eubalaena japonica, Hyla arborea japonica, Buergeria japonica, Cryptomeria japonica, Geoemyda japonica, Luehdorfia japonica."
* Japonica is a common name for species or hybrids of flowering quince, members of the genus Chaenomeles.
* Japonica is a short-grain variety of rice ("Oryza sativa" subsp. "japonica"), as opposed to the long-grain Indica ("O. sativa" subsp. "indica")
* Japonica (butterfly) is a genus of the Theclinae subfamily of butterflies
