Elliotte Friedman

Elliotte Friedman (born September 27, 1970 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian sports journalist. He currently works on CBC Sports programmes including hosting and appearing on Hockey Night in Canada's segment "The Headliner". Before joining CBC, Friedman worked for The Score network. He also reports weekly for Fan 590, where he began his broadcast career in 1994 and did play-by-play for Toronto Raptors games on both radio and television and reported on Toronto Blue Jays games in 1998. He did freelance for the London Free Press and the Toronto Star. He was awarded the Telemedia Reporter of the Year in 1996. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1993.

On Sunday September 2nd 2007, on the eve of the Labour Day classic CFL game which he was to host, Elliotte shaved his head bald in secret without telling many family members or friends. This was in recognition of a young boy he met at a shopping mall whose parents informed him their child was a big fan of his and watched all his broadcasts. Unfortunately, the boy was afraid to greet Elliotte due to the fact that he was bald as a side effect of his chemotherapy. As a result, Elliotte shaved his head in secret in order to show the young man that there is nothing wrong with being bald. [http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Columnists/Francis/2007/09/03/4467086-sun.html]
