Cocoli (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Kokoli, also in Santo Antão Crioulo) is a village in the northern part of the island of Santo Antão.

Geography and Information

The mountains dominate the area around the village as well as and groves dominate the village areas, dry grasslands with barren rocks and bushes covers the rest of the area as well as cattle areas. Cliffs and steep and treacherous ledges dominate the valley area. Several mountains covers the north and the island's mountain range to the south, a small portion of the area predominantly the higher elevations offers a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean.

The village is a traditional Portuguese village with a classic church. It also has great recreational areas for the villagers and great schools as well. The majority of the population lives well in beautiful spacious homes. Some of its population are farmers and are based in agriculture where banana plantations, pineapple and other crops are common. Other careers that are common are in medicine, trading, and also law. The farms are in the form of paddies and stone walls But for other needs, electricity, communications and appliances are partially available in the area as well as phone lines since the late-20th century. A part of the necessities also comes from the island capital.
