Television series

Season 1

Mr. Hare is often critical of other animals, in particular Mr. Pheasant, who he sees as pompous and attention seeking. He scorns the way Mrs. Pheasant acted towards her husband. Mrs. Hare, although sympathetic to Mr. Pheasant, loses patience with his melodramatic departure to seek Adder. She is then very upset to learn of his death, declaring she will never forgive herself. Mr. Hare is latter critical of the Rabbits over Fox's disappearance. Being very fast, the Hares annoy many of the smaller animals. When the animals are scattered after the episode Pandemonium, Mr. Hare does not appear to care, and suggests the remaining members of the group just go on and leave the rest behind, confident that they will "turn up eventually".

Season 2

On arriving at White Deer Park, Hare and his mate manage to make friends and move in with the resident hares. This is according to Mr Rabbit, who is annoyed by their lack of loyalty. In contrast, Fox holds them up as an example of coexistence. After land is set aside for Farthing Animals the Hare's decide to remain where they are. Despite this, Hare is still seen during the winter, joining in the search for Badger. Both are also seen eating the hay brought by the White Stag and at further meetings of the Farthing animals, indicating that though they do not live on Farthing land they are still involved. One of the two hares is then present when the animals find a deer killed by poachers. Mr Hare is asked to be a sentry at the boundary of the Park when Fox comes up with a plan for ridding the park of poachers, because he is good at hearing. Both hares then join in, after collecting Mrs Rabbit on their way, and are seen celebrating with the other animals after Fox's triumph over the poachers. In the Spring, the Hares come to see Mrs Rabbit's new babies and though Mr Hare is unsympathetic towards Mr Rabbit, Mrs Hare reminds him they still live by the oath even though they live outside Farthing Land.

Mrs Hare later dies when Scarface attacks and carries her off. Owl than mentions that since the Hares do not live on Farthing land Scarface was not doing anything wrong, Fox believed it was done deliberately to spite him. When Mrs Hare gets killed, Mr Hare chooses to come back with his two babies and live on Farthing land. Mr Hare is no longer around in season 3.
