Ultimate Electronics is a chain of consumer electronics stores in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. They incorporated in the state of Delaware and their principal offices reside in Thornton, Colorado. A rapid expansion in the early 2000's coupled with a economic downturn in consumer spending forced the company to file for bankruptcy in 2005. That same year, Ultimate emerged from bankruptcy protection with half its store base shuttered and as a privately owned company. Mark Wattles, chairman and CEO was the creator of Hollywood Video, the video rental giant.
